Design a logo: Maybe you have a logo idea in mind, but no name yet. Try putting that logo onto paper and see if that sparks ideas. Combining your logo with different names will help you decide! Coin toss: Maybe you are stuck between just two names and it’s really eating away at you; why not flip a coin?

Hi, in need of name for my Sleep Coaching business offering gentle sleep solutions for babies and children to 6 yrs. Target audience – tired mums, dads, caregivers. Thanks

And maybe it’s not obvious, but I definitely meant they use to have a studio. Not a stupid.

I think you should just go with your name + photography. Personally, I’m much more likely to click on Janesmithphotography.com vs something cutesy. It seems more professional and most people search by location: “Anywhere, USA newborn photography”

If you’re really having trouble naming your business, consider these other ideas for helping you make up your mind:

My only input here is to consider what’s google-able. Like, our neighbors used to have a stupid called “in focus photography,” but when you google it you get tons of results. The ended up changing the name a few years back.

For what it’s worth, every high end professional photographer I’ve ever used uses either their name or initials. That doesn’t preclude them from hiring others. I don’t mean any offense but I would never click on a link for adorababy photography as it doesn’t scream high end or sophisticated at all.

Use humor. Things that make people laugh tend to be easily remembered. Using a bit of humor in your name will go a long way!

When thinking of photography name ideas, do not worry if nothing sounds good right away.

Picking a business name is a task that should not be taken lightly; in fact, you should put a lot of time into picking a name that will truly benefit your new business. Remember, standing out from your competition is key.

Here are a few tips for brainstorming photography name ideas:

Also, this might be my own bias, but I feel like the “janesmithphotography” businesses are a dime a dozen in my area – mostly SAHMs who want to do something on the side.  To be fair this is sort of how I will be starting out but I want it to feel professional from the get-go

Use your tools. Using words that refer to your tools (such as your tripod or camera) will help passersby realize what type of business you are.

Congrats on starting your business and I hope you have great success with it!

The lady that did ours just used her name, very simple and her photography is very simple. She aims for soft light colors, like whites, creams, pale yellows, etc and uses all organic type cloths and stuff for the pictures. It’s so simple and beautiful and just focuses on the baby. I love it, and her business is just her name. Nice and simple and easy

But nothing in the names lets the consumer know its focused on babies/families so I guess that’s why I’m not sure it works…

Keep it simple. Using words that are difficult to pronounce or spell will make it difficult for people to say or remember your name.

I have been so so excited and getting all the details set … and I thought I would be using a name I had come up with years ago.  But now I think I could find something better with more personality!

“First name” “Middle Name” Photography ( ex: Amelia Marie Photography)

I think using your name is a great idea as others have suggested, but if you choose something else, make sure it stands out and isn’t one of a hundred.

A great option is to ask friends and family for inspiration. Ask them what they think you’re good at, what adjectives come to mind when they think of your work, and for any other ideas they might have.

Being a photographer is no easy business; it takes a true artist to capture the emotion of the moment and take pictures that will make people smile for years to come. Oh, and of course it also requires an amazing camera and a lot of other expensive gear.

Naming party: Throw a party to get ideas from friends and family. Add drinks into the mix and you’re bound to come up with something good! Don’t have too many drinks though, and be sure to keep a pen and paper on hand!

Survey: If you have a computer, you have access to amazing technology; use it. There are websites where you can create surveys to fish for ideas, and there is also a vast world of social networking polling options, all right at your fingertips!

Just out of curiosity, what were you thinking of naming it before?

The best photographers usually use their name so their work is recognized.

Any ideas from this group??  I want something catchy / memorable / cute.

Hi everyone!  I’m finally taking a leap of faith and starting my own photography business that I’ve been dreaming about for years. I’ll be specializing in all things baby – newborn, cake smash, family, maternity, etc etc.

A lot of people incorporate their name into their photography business. I also know a lady who named hers Baby Steps, which I thought was adorable. I’ve also seen people use adjectives such as Whimsical Photography. Maybe come up with something focused on the idea of milestones. (One milestone at a time) or something focused specifically on your favorite. Baby Bump Photography.

Also I don’t want to incorporate my name because I plan on eventually hiring a couple of other local photographers and don’t want to alienate them / have to rebrand

Use your specialty. If you plan on specializing in a certain area (such as weddings or maternity shoots), use words in your name that will make this obvious!

The above are just a few but incorporating your name is a good idea as well. You can use your first, middle, or last depending on what you think sounds better with photography.

The names above are all excellent examples of names for photography businesses, but perhaps you are still having a tough time deciding on a name.

Do you give up taking pictures when you cannot get that perfect shot? No, you don’t.

These are great!  I wish I could get your opinion on my baby name you have a knack for this 🙂

We need one new brand which is used to kid tent, kid tent etc.

My first thought is New Life Photography? I’m not very creative though lol. Good luck!

Use common sense. There are many, many photographers around and they are all your competition. Know their names and choose something that stands out from the rest!

Take your time. You shouldn’t settle for anything less than perfect.

Tiny Tots Photography (though this may limit your services )

Baby food made with fresh and healthy food then frozen and sold in individual portions. Nothing artificial added.

If you have what it takes to start a photography business, wonderful! When it comes to a business in photography, you can either have a home-based business or you can have an actual brick-and-mortar location. Either way, you’ll need a name. You don’t just want to pick any name, though; you want something that people will easily remember but is still unique and will make you stand out from the competition.

Then an option for website/Instagram, you could use your initials plus something. Examples: “Mike Kehr Photography” it can be shortened to “MKphoto” or “MKphotocreations”. Best of luck!!!
