My style is to shoot low key monochrome images, using natural light where ever possible. This really allows me to produce something special for my clients. This kind of imagery really lends itself to becoming art hanging on a family’s walls.
Being a newborn photographer is n’t easy, especially working the way i do. Its all about being able to see the light and use it to create these challenging images. Controlling natural light is the key and when used as a gentle spot light it really can help to create some very special images.
These images were produced last week in the beautiful home of one of my customers. Celebrating the first birthday of their incredible daughter.
£130. That is for all three sessions, and the triple frame at the end. Most people buy other wall art along the way, or build their collection of images as they go. Maybe by building an album of prints, or investing in the digital files.
Home shoots are ideal for newborn baby photography. They are surrounded by familiar scents and feel relaxed in their own environment. Photography studio’s can be very intimidating places, and babies can be tricky at the best of times. Here are some of my favourite images from a recent shoot for Mel and her new little baby boy.
I work quickly and without fuss and as well as portraits of the little girl, i wanted to create some images of the family together. I feel it is vital to include the parents in a portrait session as the images are little pieces of family history that i am sure Evie-Mai will love to look back on in 20 years time!
The slideshow shows a few images from the session. All were taken using window light only with post production using a few special actions i have created for my signature look.
Little Evie-Mai was just 9 days old when i went to meet her. Her parents, Gareth and Helen had asked me to come to their home and i was really excited to meet her. Gareth is a photographer so the pressure was really on!

Fine Art Newborn photography is one of my passions. Its amazing to be the first to create professional fine art portraits of these tiny people that will be treasured forever by their parents and grandparents.
Mel has joined the My First Year scheme to get three sessions of her babies first year, charting his growth from newborn (he was 6 days old here) right through 3 to 4 months, 8 months and finally a year old, when he will be toddling about, causing chaos and exploring his world. At the end of the year, Mel will choose 3 images to make her own one of these, her own triple frame, included in the price of the My First Year scheme.
Being at home allowed for me to capture the natural expressions of a baby that was relaxed and playful.

I have been photographing babies for over 15 years, in the studio and on location, but at home babies are for more confident. Then, all I need to do is be playful myself. The result, with careful consideration, means my customers have a huge amount of variety in the images they come to choose. Have you got a young child, a baby?
